Blizzard
Internet Marketing is a leading internet marketing company
specializing in the lodging and hotel industry, and they employed me
from May 17, 2000 to October 24, 2005. Blizzard provides full service
website hosting, design and promotion plans for their clients. My
position required extensive customer service skills, as well as the
ability to explain the technical nature of our company in layman's
terms to the client.
My
position was as a web designer, involving personal contact with the
client and designing a website that not only met their vision, but
also met their needs; and that website had to be visually appealing,
fast loading, and search engine friendly. I was required to help the
client differentiate between ideas that were good for them and those
that were bad for their project and future search engine ranking.
I was
responsible for making their website from scratch, making the
necessary graphics (unless specific graphics were supplied by the
client), formatting the text supplied by the client and adapting it
for search engine optimization. I decided the number of pages, devised
the navigation, and performed the basic optimization of the page
titles and tags for search engines. Part of my job was to get the home
page keyword density as high as possible using online tools to
accomplish this task. (More detailed optimization was handled by the
Promotion Department.)
I also
had assigned clients that I would make updates and changes to their
websites on a regular basis, advise them on issues regarding keeping
their websites current in the optimization field and recommend when
design changes were warranted; as well make sure that their websites
were always functioning properly.
In
addition, for the last three years of my employment, I was in charge
of the company's 100+ email marketing newsletters clients. Designing
their newsletters, sending, adding clients, and maintaining the
current accounts.
I left
because my husband took a job at the Grand Targhee Ski Resort in Alta,
Wyoming, which resulted in our move to Idaho.
